Bamboo, or ?BooBoo? was owned by a lovely but elderly woman who just can?t give the time and love to her beautiful BooBoo any more. BooBoo used to be a screamer. We allowed The Kansas School For the Deaf to keep her a couple years and THAT has greatly decreased her amount of screaming. Her fault now is that she?s been neglected and has began picking her feathers. She just recently chewed a small hold in her shoulder that required 4 stitches. Special TLC and pampered time on a daily basis with this bird will hopefully cure her of this bad habit. If not we (a not-for-profit corp.) will work with you to improve the situation.
She needs her diet improved and needs regular showers with a mister. Her prior owner had never given BooBoo a bath in the 11 years of her life so her skin and feathers were very dry. She is extremely social, loves to be loved by everybody, is used to small children, small dogs and cats, likes men and women, and she has a wonderful 'California Cage' that goes with her. She is precious - she hops across the floor when excited, loves to hide under the cover of a blanket or wrap, is always excited to see you, and would make an awesome family pet.
Cockatoos generally scream quite a bit; she doesn?t make much noise except in the evening when the sun is going down. We will ask for a rehoming fee to help support our educational programs with other birds. She has not chewed our woodwork, has not bitten anybody, and we feel she is a dream-come-true bird.
